Welcome to P16 Pilates, a boutique style Pilates studio located in Chicago's South Loop, offering clients private and semi private sessions. Enhance your mind, body and spirit connection by fully integrating the focus, intention and breath into a workout session. We invite you to leave everything else that is happening in life outside the studio and focus on you.
Pilates (pronounced: puh-lah-teez) is a body conditioning routine that seeks to build flexibility, strength, endurance and coordination without adding muscle bulk. Pilates improves your mental and physical well-being, increases flexibility and strengthens muscles.
Pilates uses controlled movements in the form of mat exercises or equipment to tone and strengthen the body.
Pilates Philosophy
Pilates sessions are not meant to tire, but rather to invigorate. Modern exercise physiology confirms the wisdom of the Joseph Pilates approach: you cannot efficiently build muscle bulk/flexibility, while at the same time performing a hard aerobic workout. This leads to unnecessary stress loading and such sessions should be performed separately.
Comprised of more than 500 exercises, performed as mat based or using special resistance equipment, Pilates emphasizes flowing movements requiring the use of the core of the body.
